I want to go home

This has turned into the worst trip ever. Claire went to sleep at about 730 (no nap and had a little bit of a hard time getting her to sleep.) ELla fell asleep sometime after that, don't know when. Claire woke up once, and Steve rocked her back to sleep in his arms and put her back in the pack and play. Then at 11, Ella was up. Had to pee and again, no idea when she fell back to sleep. At 12:30, I heard Claire awake. Ignored her until 1am, when Ella was then awake and telling her to be quiet. Went in their room, and tried very hard to get Claire to sleep in the bed with Steve, and then me. Took Ella up to the loft where we were sleeping to sleep with one of us, the one that wasn't with Claire. Claire was awake till about 5am with only a 20 min period of sleep in there when Steve took her for a drive. (he cursed himself for not just sleeping in the car). Ella was awake the whole time because Claire was crying for much of it because Claire did not want to go in the room where she was supposed to sleep and would scream when we entered it. I gave her milk, read to her, and Steve eventually went back in the car with her at 430 where she fell asleep at 5, and he slept till about 6, and the rain woke both of them up. Ella finally fell asleep with me sometime after 430am when i finally told her very sternly to "GO TO SLEEP!" Steve slept maybe over an hour and i slept probably an hour and half.

And it's going to rain all day today. So there is no chance of hanging out at the beach. We aren't sure yet, but we may just go home. And I am probably going to cancel my up north trip with my friend that was going to happen on wed thru friday of the upcoming week. If Claire did something like this, and Steve wasn't there (which he won't be because it was just me and my girl friend and our kids) I wouldn't be able to drive around with her to get her to sleep, i would fall asleep at the wheel.

Claire has never done this before and has slept very well in that pack and play. We are wondering if because she didn't have a nap, when she slept for five hours, it was a like a nap for her and she was just ready to play. We don't know what to do...i want to go home, steve isn't sure. I don't want to hurt Beth and Ryan's feelings but I don't know how much fun any of us are going to be. Claire usually sleeps 11 to 12 hours at night and Ella sleeps 10 to 11 hours on a good night. Both got WAY less than that....
