We are doing pretty well over here with baby Rosalie being home. Rosalie is a breeze to take care of. She sleeps, eats and poops like a champ. She had her first doctor's appt and is almost back up to her birth weight. She is starting to have more wakeful periods during the day. She is so quiet during those times, just taking in all the crazy around her.
Ella and Claire are over the moon in love with her. They always want to hold her. (this is about the only time we can get Claire to sit still). But both of them are learning how to be gentle with her.
The hardest part of having the new baby home is Ella and her attitude change. I thought that Claire was going to be the problem with the new baby, but she seems unchanged and acts like her normal two year old self. Ella has been acting out at us, Grandparents, and especially Claire. (verbally and physically). I know this is a phase, as my two favorite Moms have assured me, but it doesn't make it easier. Ella's current excuse for her behavior is that Claire wakes her up too early. But honestly, now that they have been sharing a room for a month, we are pretty sure Ella is getting just about the same amount of sleep she got when she slept in there alone. So Steve came up with a good plan tonight that since she keeps complaining that she is so tired, she is going to be required to take a nap (even if she doesn't actually fall asleep). The plan is to just make her lay down while Claire is napping. Then her excuse for being tired will be gone. So far in the last few days she has had timeouts, tv taken away, Leapster taken away, and a very talk with Mommy. I thought the talk went well, but not 30 minutes later, she was back to her old ways.
We will adjust, it's just going to take some time.
