Tomorrow we start soccer! I found out from a friend that Total Sport Complex offers a soccer class for both of the girls. We signed up for a ten week course that happens on Saturdays, both are at 11:30am. Ella will be in the class by herself for 50 minutes and Claire will be with one of us (or mostly Steve) for 45 min. Steve and I are very excited because this is the first sports class that they will be involved in. My friend said they play lots of games while learning to handle the soccer ball. (she has two kids the same age as mine, and are in the same classes the girls will be in just on a different day).
So the minor catch was Ella's major meltdown when we told her we signed her up for soccer. She started screaming and crying because she said she didn't want to play soccer, she wanted to be an artist. (oh lord). So we kept telling her that she could still be an artist but it is good to try other things. She basically told us she didn't have time to play soccer, she was "planning her art school" on the weekend. She had a long day of waking up early, playing, going to school, and more outside play. And she was rough-housing with Pancake and Pancake jumped up so her head collided with Ella's front teeth...it was all down hill from that point on. But after a while, she came around and has agreed to play soccer and seems excited about it. She even played soccer outside tonight with her friend. Claire, of course, is happy to be involved in something and keeps saying "oh soccer? yeah!"
And today we celebrated Claire's 1/2 birthday at parent-tot class. Since school was not in session when her birthday happened (august) she got a half bday celebration. Which means we bring a snack for the class and she wears a crown and everyone sings to her. She was very excited about this during the class. She even wore her crown the whole time, which most of the kids do not. And when everyone kept asking her how old she was going to be...she said "my name is Claire."
I forgot my camera (I know right? What the heck is wrong with me?) so I didn't get any cute pictures of her with her crown or chocolate pudding on her face. Oh well, take my word for it, she was cute. And she was the first one done with her pudding. That's my girl!
