The girls last day of school was December 16th. They went back to school January 3rd. We were all very excited about the break from all the running around, and schedules. But January 1st hit and Mom was really ready for school to start again! The lack of routine and all the many parties turned the "normal 90% of the time" well-behaved children into nasty little ladies. They were just plain mean to each other. The fighting was at an all time high. There was just a little TOO much togetherness this holiday season. I think we were all sick of each other!
But before all the crabiness started, we had a great staycation. The fun started with school Christmas parties. Then we went to see Arther Christmas and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. (Arthur Christmas was by far the better movie). We went swimming at the high school "water park." We went to the Henry Ford Museum. We visited friends in Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids, all in one day. Two and half hours to Kalamazoo, then an hour drive to Grand Rapids. Long day! Ella had a well visit: no surprise, she is perfect. We had Ella's birthday party on her birthday, December 23rd. (8 IS GREAT!) We built snowmen in the dark during a 2 inch snowfall. We had a family game night a couple of times. And we visited with family and friends on Christmas Eve, Christmas and beyond. We did a lot in the time we had off. Steve started to finish the bathroom in the basement with all the Lowes gift cards he received for Christmas. I got some workouts in, but not enough for the amount of eating that was going on, that's for sure! We spent a lot of mornings sleeping in, and we stayed up late.
The girls had a great vacation, and excellent Christmas. They were really ready to go back to school. They missed their teachers. Both Ella and Claire love their teachers like they were their second mothers. It's very sweet.
